[Engaged!] A field trip with Grace and Brandon

What would Miss Frizzle do if she got engaged? She’d probably celebrate it wearing a “space dress”. More on that later… let’s go to the smell the flowers first.

I had an awesome time shooting with Grace and Brandon this past weekend. I’ve known them for years and it was a pleasure catching up over an extended weekend.

They are science teachers in a public school. The kind of teachers that aren’t yet jaded, and that naturally keep up with what’s “in” so they can relate to their students. They are passionate about educating and it shows when you hang with them – their first choice on shooting location was a museum 🙂
I can only hope Vera and Aurora are lucky to have teachers like them.

With cherry blossoms in full bloom, we pranced around the most beautiful parts of Newark, NJ. We fought off the rain for most of the evening, and found little nooks of the park where Brandon would regale Grace with Lil’ Dicky rap sonnets, or Romeo and Juliet re-enactments while Grace would light up and enjoy every minute with uncanny… grace .

After dark, the skies let loose and a slight drizzle turned into pouring rain. We weren’t quite done though, and amidst the breaks in downpour we had a few fleeting moments to get some powerful silhouettes. Grace and Brandon were ready – they danced and celebrated the rain without a care in the world. The results were dramatic, and probably some of my most proud shots.

The next morning was a tour of Museum of Natural History, with Miss Frizzle and her fiancee. She had “epinephrine” earrings and a space themed dress to match his solar-tastic tie.
