Welp, we did it! The John’s took a family vacation all on our own. We picked Portland, Oregon! (Side-note: If you don’t have kids, you have no idea about your greatest travel enemy in the world – children’s carseats.)
What an interesting little town. We only explored a small fraction of it, but we ended up packing it full of bite sized activities – a stroll through the Saturday Market, a few mouth watering restaurants and dessert shops in Southeast Portland, rented a Surrey and biked around downtown, sampled lots of Portland beer, paid $8 for Chai that my parents make, and of course visited the magnificent Multnomah Falls. Vera and Aurora LOVED Portland, especially the wonderful sights like “the AC unit in the hotel room.”
